Announcements from the Lancaster Stake

Here are some announcements from the Stake that they'd like us to share with you all:

* Stake Conference & Women's Conference Choir practice - Sundays from 6-7pm at the Stake Center.  RS Sisters and 2nd year Laurels invited to participate.

* Friday, May 17th, 7pm - 8:30 pm, "The Book of Mormon Has Come Forth" - A Musical Presentation for ALL Stake members and friends.  This is a special opportunity to move ourselves to higher ground and lift others.  Church dress please.

* Saturday, May 18th, 10 am- 4pm, Stake Women's Conference at the Stake Center.  Sister Janice Kapp Perry will be the keynote speaker.  Church dress please.

Congratulations to the Pfatenhauer's!

Torrance and Emma welcomed their baby, Everett James Pfatenhauer on Tuesday, March 12th, 2013, at 4:03pm.  He weighed in at 7 pounds 4 ounces and 18.5 inches long.

Mom and baby are both doing great!

April Activity

Our April Activity is just a few short weeks away.  We won't have another regular Relief Society meeting to talk about it, since next week is the 5th Sunday and the week after is General Conference.  So we wanted to get the word out early on our activity.  Our theme for the month is "Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy" and "Reverence", so we will be making these binders for your children, grand-children, nieces, nephews, or any child you may want to give it to as a gift.  (It makes a great gift!)

We will provide the pictures and the sheet protectors, you just need to bring a binder (1/2" to a 1" will be good).  And if you bring a binder with a front sleeve, we will also have card-stock paper and scrap-booking supplies to create and decorate a front cover page for your book.

Once your book is complete, you just need to get Dry Erase Markers or Crayons (which can be found at Target, Walmart, etc) and your book is ready for a child to help him/her remain quiet and reverent in church, or for a great after church activity!

Lancaster and Lancaster East, CA project: Painting - Monte Vista Elem School. Prep work will be done on April 27th by Lancaster East (BBQ afterward for volunteers!); actual painting will be done May 11th by Lancaster (west).

Palmdale, CA project: Planting Trees - Peloma Vista Park in conjunction with the City of Palmdale. After planting trees, Palmdale Stake will be having a BBQ at the park. Contact: Debbie Dino, 661-435-1188

Monthly Birthday Celebrations

Ladies from our ward have requested to do things outside of church activities, in result of that request, there will be monthly birthday celebration every month.

Some months we will get together for lunch and there is hope that a dinner celebration will happen.

 

We would like to celebrate the March birthdays with a luncheon on Friday, March 22. 12:00pm @ Jinjer Schmidt's home. 

Bring a dish to share with everyone.

Even if you do not have a birthday this month, we'd like for you to come. The idea is to get together, socialize, celebrate and enjoy getting to know all the sisters from the ward.

RS Birthday Dinner Celebration

We had our RS Birthday Celebration dinner last Wednesday.   It was a wonderful evening with good food and great company!

 Some of the woman gave us summaries from different chapters in the Daughters In My Kingdom book.  They all did a great job and we learned so much from their summaries and received a greater desire to go home and read that book!

 After dinner we had a cupcake decorating contest.  

 Everyone took a blank cupcake and used the frosting, candies, cookies, and sprinkles to decorate them

 Deborah loved photo-bombing :)

Those who didn't decorate a cupcake just visited with each other and ate the already frosted cupcakes!

 Then they were all displayed and we got to vote on them

Jennifer Ferguson won!!  Congrats Jen!!

Congratulations to Sister Janna Blair

Janna just received her mission call to serve in the Florida Orlando Mission!!  She will be entering the MTC in Provo on July 17, her father's birthday!  Congratulations, Janna!!

March 8th:  Single Adult Potluck for St. Patrick's day.  7 pm at Stake Center.  Bring a dish to share.
March 13th:  RS Birthday dinner.  6 pm (EARLIER than usual) since it will be a dinner.  
March 15th:  Stake night at the temple.  6:30 session (or whatever works for you.)  
March 21st:  Stake Emergency preparedness night 6 pm at Lancaster Blvd. bldg.  
March 30th:  General YW Broadcast for YW, their leaders and mothers.  7 pm at Stake Center
March 31st:  Easter Sunday
